Greater Toronto Area businesses are crying foul after receiving sky-high phone bills that charged them upward of $200,000 because hackers broke into their voicemail system and hijacked it to make long-distance calls. See this CBC News report for more informaiton.

This threat can be significantly reduced by simply asking your staff to make their voicemail passwords 5 digits longer and are not easy to guess like 12345 or 77777.

10 digit dialing is now mandatory for the interior. Contact Vernon Telecom to make sure your telephone system, Fax machines, Visa terminals and point of sale machines are integrated and programmed correctly for this change.
